Josh Fix
| Sounds Like |
Free at Last is debut album by Josh Fix, a musician from San Francisco, California. I wanted to mention his current location, because apparently Fix was born in South Africa (!).
According to his biography, he was first noticed by the SF Chronicle (front cover story) in 2005, when he was asked to open up for the legendary The Who. Although Fix's sound isn't so much rock, I'm almost certain his piano-driven songs would be well-received by The Who's audience.
The track that really stood out will probably be "Rock And Roll Slut" with its very personal lyrics:
We're so punk, living by the bay
Chestnut and Divis, Starbucks everyday
Got the good job, working in a startup
marketing/PR up Palo Alto way
My favorite song is "Don't Call Me in the Morning", which is a very energic song that starts off the album. The song was clearly design to draw you in.
I am impressed that Fix wrote, produced, and performed on all the songs for his debut album, so he probably already knew "Don't Call Me..." would have to start very early in the album to make people interested in listening to the rest of the album.
You can download Free at Last via iTunes, I'm not sure where you can get a physical CD copy - but check with his record company, 1650 Entertainment.
