I got a trackless album from Della Valle, which made it kind of annoying to add in my iTunes. Although I would have to admit that I did end up listening to all the songs to determine all 10 titles... so Mister Jay Della Valle, you've suckered me into listening to your album!
All kiddings aside, I actually liked what I heard, so it wasn't such a nightmare.
Out of his four releases, the tracks are basically from Stay Gold and The Best Years EP, which Della Valle is calling it his "Greatest Hits", then humorously retracted:
Ok, I don't really have a greatest hits CD. Partly because I don't have any hits. But they're hits in the minds of the people that know them, so with that said- I have compiled a new CD with 10 songs- 4 great songs from my first CD (Best Years) and 6 new songs from the newest CD, "Stay Gold." All of these songs were recorded, engineered, and coproduced by Chris "Gibby" Gibson at Upstart Studios in Hoboken. Collectively, they accomplish a great album.

He's right, combining them together offers a good mix of feel good electric alt-rock ("Can't Take You Anywhere", "Best Years of Your Life", "Everytime You Break") to slow quieter songs ("Not In Front Of People", "Kings and Queens" and "All That She Needs") and overall feels like a full album.
As a bonus, there was also a three-track sampler from his album Pink Elephants. Based on the three songs, I did like the title track, "Pink Elephants".
He wants to go on tour and promote his music, currently looking to spend some time in the Northeast region - so if you're in the music biz or want to help out, you can contact him at his official website or myspace.
All of his releases are available on either iTunes or CD Baby.

It looks like New Jersey's Of Fate and Chance are going to do a massive "Extreme" tour this year. Looking at their myspace page they've already released five EPs and a full length, so these guys are constantly writing new material and (probably) evolving their music along the way.
Of the two mp3s, I received ("Bravery" and "Post Explosion"), I thought the first one is pretty good at displaying their energy and sound - but I also get the impression that they are very young. This is not meant as a putdown, but I could not picture someone in their late 30s pounding and pumping to a power song like this. Youth is on their side, and it should be interesting to see what they sound like as a band in five years.
I found out that the two songs are from the last EP called An Atlas to Solutions, which as of this writing, I do not think they have any available for sale on their merchandise store (only A Liar's Monologue and some T-Shirts are for sale).
So if you like the harder alternative (even punkish power pop) sound, you should check out these guys on tour. They seem to be doing the East Coast and then South-ish areas.
Special thanks to Platform One for sending in music.
PS, sorry for the awful cover art, there wasn't a better copy available online.

Kennedy are a southern rock band based out of Nashville, Tennessee. Since Nashville is the home of all-things-Country/Western, you would expect to hear that influence in their music - but no! They're pretty much sound very alternative southern-sounding rock.... at least based on the two songs that were submitted to me.
According to their biography, the band have been around since 2004, honing their song playing skills.
I believe their album or EP will be called Slanky.SEXY.Rock, which pretty much described the songs I've heard.
Both "Cocaine" and "Lovechild" are available to download on their myspace. Check out the bassline in "Cocaine". It's really good, you can hear it very clearly in the song's intro, however, between the two songs, I thought perhaps "Lovechild" might better represent the band with its southern-style vocals and bluesy guitar solo.
I have to add that their name might deter them from being more successful. "Kennedy" is just too common of a moniker, and is also associated with (famous) people, such as that MTV VJ also called Kennedy.

I wanted to mention Josiah Wordsworth's debut album, Wordsworth!, was released March 18th. I found out that his name is actually Jordan Slominski and he's based in St Paul, Minnesota.
I'll have to point out that I don't actually have his album or debut EP called Blue State, which was released in 2007, but based on the few songs I listened to, it sounds like a lot of piano with a rock n roll sensibility. The two songs I've heard on Wordsworth! are instrumentals, so I am assuming the rest of the album have no lyrics. It's still enjoyable.
"My Catholic Darling" feels like a frantic piano-driven song. Although I say frantic, I feel Slominski is very much in control of the song.
It would be interesting to see him perform live, especially on that particular song - and good news, I just checked and he's playing a few dates Gustavus Adolfus - Courtyard Cafe, St. Peter (23 Apr 2008) and Varsity Theater, Minneapolis (24 Apr 2008).
Once again, Wordsworth! is out now and you can purchase the album directly on his website.
Incidentally, I got this tip via Limerick Records, who's operating on donations - offering all their music available for download for free. I'm definitely going to mention Limerick Records on W♥M at a later time.
In the absence of CD sales, our artist's livelihoods depend on their live performances, merchandising, publishing, and other assorted sources of revenue. Our ultimate goal is that fans will learn about one of our artists, download that artist's music free of charge, and then, later, pay for a concert ticket, a t-shirt, or a DVD. We want to build a lifelong relationship with each fan, and always strive to give back much more than we take.

W♥M favorites Saint Bernadette have a new EP called I Wanna Tell You Something... to be released March 17th (although the street date announced on their myspace is closer to March 4th). Please refer to my original article to read about the band.
It looks like they (and EVERY other band!) are going to be playing at SXSW this year as well as a few unconfirmed dates.
So, the EP is a pretty smooth listening experience, before you know it, the single has ended. Although their album, In the Ballroom had some jazz influences, there's less of that on this single, which mainly has pop/rock songs and some 60s influences (but with a modern twist).
The song "I Wanna Tell You Something" is very much a contrast to "In Between", which opens the single. The later is clearly the single, with its sweeping epic chorus, while former is a little more low-key and doesn't feel like it should drive the single. Instead "I Wanna..." is a great song to end the single, which makes a lot of sense that they kept this song as the last track.
The song that really stood out for me is "Hard to Believe" which is a quick (under 3 minute) song with some very saucy femmes fatale lyrics:
No man ever left me
No man ever would
No man ever left me
No man ever could
...
No man ever kept me
No man have time
No man ever kept
Even if I left the line
Unfortunately, I couldn't find any details for you to buy the EP on their record label, Exotic Recordings. I suspect it because it's not available to buy yet - although I am almost certain if you wrote them an email expressing interest, they would be more than happy to send you more details. Tell them W♥M sent you!
Look for I Wanna Tell You Something... in March. You should also keep your eyes and ears on another yet-untitled EP which features duet covers between Brian Grosz and Meredith DiMenna. Planned covers includes: Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong, Tom Waits & Crystal Gail, Morrissey & Siouxsie Sioux (Interlude originally by Timi Yuro), Tricky & PJ Harvey, and Elvis & Ann Margaret.
